Many people give credit to Abraham Lincoln for coming up with the following quote: “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” Lincoln borrowed that phrase from the Bible.  God said it first. (See Mark 3:25)

Play “The Bible Said It First.” These are Common Sayings That Came from the Bible. Guess where in the Bible these common sayings came from? The King James Bible is used. The King James Bible has greatly influenced the development of the English language. Many people, saved and unsaved do not even realize they are speaking sayings derived from the Bible. God’s word permeates every aspect of life.

When playing the game, hide the answers to the right.  Be sure to look up the Scriptures to also make it a Bible Learning game for the children. Break the game up into several days for it to be more fun for the children to learn the Bible. Some of these sayings are difficult to know where in the Bible they originated, so multiple choice answers after reading the passage might be a good way to teach younger children.
